I would hope that car has a salvage title, or can't pass inspection. Otherwise, that is one awesome deal!

At that price, i'd buy it for a parts car...if I had the money

I was wondering about the title condition myself because he states "needs to be registered" ? that must be a hint I'm guessing.

I should buy it and put the motor in my 914.

I paid less than that for my '81 SC Targa 4 years ago; it had less miles and good tires, but a ton of cosmetic issues. The PO had just grown tired of it. A great fixer-upper project and if it had been a coupe, I'd still own it.

(Uh-oh. Here comes the pro-Targa flames.....)

I almost jumped on a perfectly running 79 targa that had just about the worst paint color (pale yellow, in horrible shape) and nasty interior, but a very solid motor and new tranny. Price was $6k. could have been a nice car, but after paint and interior, and all the extra stuff that you don't find out until later, it would easily be a 11-13k car. There is USUALLY a reason for a price like this.

SC's are a great 911 that have always received praise by most Porsche enthusiasts. They just have to much going for them for the bottom to fall out of their prices IMO.

With that said there are examples in a much wider range of conditions and miles than there ever have been before. And with so many made it becomes hard to sell lesser cars as most pass them by. So all that's left to do is drop the price.

Most would agree on this board that if you buy on low price alone you may get lucky but chances are when finished sorting the car you might have been better off starting with a nice example that cost more to begin with, in a color and model you really wanted.

Just some ramblings
