Arhhhhh! Just failed SMOG!!!

Well Im a bit bummed out right now since I just spent over 130.00 and still have no SMOG cert.

Heres the lo down.

A fresh 1,000 mile rebuild.

Went to the local SMOG guys and first ran a test only (25.00). The car was running high on CO so I got in there with the magic 3mm allen and leaned it out untill all screens were in the green. So the guys proceed to run the test (50.00) and part way through the screens it says I have to take the car to a test only station.

So I go to the test only station and run another test (60.00) and the car passes emmisions with flying colors. The bad news is that the guy wouldnt let me pass the visual since I have removed my charchol canister, egr valve, and smog pump.

Ohhhh well back to the drawing board.

This was a surprise to you? Did you just move to CA?

If your car was required to go to a "test only" station, it should say so on the renewal form, and the tech at the first place should have told you this immediately. If he missed it, or you didn't have the form, the machine should have rejected it as soon as the VIN was entered, before any testing was done.

In either case, it shouldn't have cost you a cent.
