Turn Signal light on when car off and stopped????
I have what I would call strange issues with my turn signals. After I stop and have had my turn signal on left or right it does not matter, the lights will stay on, they will not blink still but stay lit. I have turned off all the running and healights, but my turn signal arm is up or down however I turned last. Any ideas, shouldn't these turn off when the key is turned off and the key out.
I have a 1980 911sc. I have the same issue with the running lights when I leave the headlights on, but that makes some sense because I leave the headlights switch on. I have just never heard of the lights staying on when the turn signal is left on.

That's the way it works. It's been discussed in past threads.

Both are normal. I don't know why the turn signal thing does what it does, but it is supposed to do that.
Probably has something to do with parking on narrow streets that date back to the middle ages. Tom |

I know in Germany, because the streets are narrow, when you park on the street (and, for the most part, parking on the sidewalk is cool), you're supposed to turn your turnsignal lever to the left or right (at night). That way, approaching cars will be able to see you. They say it's all low voltage so it doesn't wear down the battery.

These are German car parking lights. There is no defect, they were specifically designed this way. Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Porsche all have them. They never have been used here.
They are a smart way to make your car be better seen when parked at night without the battery drain of having both R and L lights on - the American solution. The only problem is when I use them, people go out of their way to tell me I left my lights on.

Great! thanks for the information, sorry if I broke etiquette and did not search for this, but sometimes it's just easier to throw out the question, after all I often read articles about people getting together for a weekend drive in this the Technical forum, at least I asked a somewhat technical question. Plus, I got more information on not just that it was normal but some history of why. Now it makes more sense, except that I have left it on once when I parked the car for 1 month and it did run down the battery.
