Motronic Chip changing questions
Ok so I have a Euro 3.2 that I am getting to know before it goes into my early car. I bought the engine complete with the brain and harness. I noticed someone has opened the brain in the past so I was wondering if they changed the chip. I pulled it apart and it appears the main chip is fixed/soldered to the board. Shouldn't this be a plug in chip, ie removable?
Would it make a difference if it is a Euro brain? Can anyone tell me if this is the right ECU for a 86 Euro 3.2? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1101403518.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1101403537.jpg |
Here ya go:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1101408068.jpg Looks like a Euro stock chip. Chip codes all show manufacture date as second half of 1983. Tim |
Some of the earlier carreras had soldered chips. It is fairly common.

Nothing a bit of solder wick and a soldering Iron won't fix ;)
Make sure you fit a 24 pin socket in there, if you plan to use an aftermarket CHIP. It'll make it easier to swap in/out in future ;) |
cool, thanks. I will look for a 24 pin socket. I just wanted to make sure it was the right brain. I'd hate to have the worng ECU.

The 051 DME is not setup for an O2 sensor. If you're in a state which has no emissions
issues or you're using the car as a track-only, then the O2 sensor in not a problem. |
Will you get more power without the O2 sensor?
