Well, it's not me, but my miata does weigh about 2300, but if yours wet with driver is about 2500# that's not too bad, but I bet somebody here has you beat, probably several people.

Sorry, that's what I meant. 2800lbs with you and gas makes the car about 2500 lbs which isn't bad if it's a late SC, but from what I understand the early SC's came in not too far from that anyway.

I drive mine everyday... but I don't mind the lack of nice crap!
ahahaha!Mine weighs in at 2238 lbs w/ half tank of fuel... no fiberglass.. yet! but I don't think mine is lighter than Ed Bighi's he has a 78 non sunroof SC and he is lighter ( it looks like my cars twin down to the T but he has the sunroof delete! )than I am but a 15 or so lbs.. but that won't be for ong.. But I am sure he and I have the lighter SC's that are still driven everyday... I can tell you one thing if you like creature comforts and other odd things like AC.. or heaters and what have you then you WILL be hard pressed to get an SC very light.. there is a price to pay.. but it's WELL worth it!! IMHO.. I will have to say that Ed Bighi for sure has the lightest SC in town.. for now!. ( insert E-ville laugh) muhuhuhuhu- Muughuhuhuhuh! cough... cough.... damn cold! ![]() Eric

OK OK< you got me. Mine's not a daily driver. Just a toy and it's not very light. I would love to strip it down but I don't think the wifey would like it and she DOES ride with me once in while. Oh well, it's still a 911.
Eric, can you tell a vast difference in driving a "normal" SC versus yours. I went from an LT1 Camaro to my 911 and I can tell when ther is a 1000# difference. The 911 is much more nimble and easier to throw around. Thanks,

Mine is heavier than those numbers. Guess I better take the Momo shift knob and that 930 Steering wheel crest off!!!

Oh yeah! you can tell BIG TIME! ask anyone who has taken my car for a spin! they will tell you it is not like any other SC they have driven.. you can notice the weight being gone!!.. it's like a GO KART!!!!!!!!!! if you think about turning it already done it and it is snappy on the throttle as well it has far less weight to push around.. Eric

Mine's 2380lbs with very little fuel. It still is comfortable enough to drive for 10- 12hrs straight just stopping for gas. My next project is lightweight seats, then fiberglass bumpers.
edit: No ac, no heater blower, no fog lights, no big bumper pads, no cruise control, no intake box, no flip down rear seats, B&B headers and muffler, no seatbelt buzzer relay , some sound deadening removed.... to be continued.....

Where do you guys weigh your cars? And how accurate is it? I would like to weigh mine. It is a euro no sunroof coupe with no ac, lighter than stock seats, and a few other deletions.

Too big to fail

2400 without me and 1/2 tank of gas.
Right now I'm working on the logistics of fiberglass doors, fenders and top, which I'm guessing will shave ~150 by the time I'm done.

I would guess that one of the more permanent ways to lower the weight of the car is to diet, exercise and lower the weight by lowering the driver's weight.
Just a thought! Mel But then again, who needs carpet, a/c, door pockets, dash board, gear shift knob, console, gauges, glovebox, door handles, rear seats, interior trim, mufflers, passenger seats, windows, doors, hood, etc. If done right, it will be as light as a go-kart and look like one too. ![]() Mel |
