Compressor Oil

Anything unique about compressor oil used in a shop compressor that I cannot subsititute standard motor oil. Any recommendations?

Do not use regular motor oil in an air compressor; the detergent and other additives will cause problems/damage. Compressor oil is readily available at many vendors that sell air tools and supplies such as Home Depot, Tru-Value Hardware stores, etc. Jim

@nd above. Compressor oil is NON detergent..Don't use motor oil

Just posted info on another thread for my new CH compressor. I'd call the manufacturer and ask about alternatives. I was suprised to see Mobil 1 as an option....
