Porsche 77 911s no start l, calling all electrical experts!
I have been trying to get my 911s I bought as a project car (was sitting for 7 year prior) to start, i have changed everything on this car and now im down to it being an electrical issue since I am getting no spark from my coil or spark plugs. I have put on an MSD 6al, all the wiring is done right Ive checked 100 times, power and ground to battery, switched 12+, coil + and - and the wire to the spark points off the distributer. The MSD unit is getting power and is grounded correctly, also when I try to start the car and put a tester to the point wire going to the distributer the light flickers showing it works. However I am getting no power from the coil or from any spark plugs. I took the coil off my 82 911sc and still no luck, I also put a spare spark plug on a pulled wire to see if there is any spark and there is nothing. Im doing this step by step but I wanted to see if you fellow pelicans have any ideas. Could the MSD be bad? FYI: car has new plug wires, new plugs, new rotor and cap, new battery and new starter. Thanks

Have you checked all the fuses?
The front/trunk and rear/engine bay fuse panels have those exposed metal contacts type fuses. They can look good, and even feel good if you twist them, but once I took one out and it just fell apart in my hand, the metal strap just hanging. Good idea on a car this old to change out the old fuses and relays. I found several on mine to be of the wrong rating. Good time to fix old problems.

you have the white wire going to the points on the dist? is it going directly to the points/dist or are you going through the old wiring? all that wiring from the dist and coil gets brittle and can cause problems. same thing with the coil wiring. connect the orange and black wires directly to the coil, not the old wiring.
make sure you have a coil that is good. does the one off the 82 work on the 82? what kind of tester did you use on the points? where did the MSD come from/ history?

I have checked the fuses in the engine bay, however I will check all the main fuses in the front hood thats a good idea. All the wiring off the MSD is new I threw away all the old brittle stuff, all the wires are going directly to the points and coil. And yes the coil is a perfectly good working coil off my 82, the MSD was bought used that was on a car for less than a year which was in working order (but i never actually saw it in a running motor) that is why im getting a little skeptical on that alone. Thanks again

Did you check to make sure the points are opening? My 75 had points that closed once and the car wouldn't start.
