Emblem applying question
 

I just had the rear deck lid refinished on my carrera and am now ready to apply the "Carrera" emblem. I understand there is a trick to doing this having to do with Windex??? Can anyone tell me if this really works. You spray the Windex to the area and then manuever the emblem into place. When the Windex evaporates the emblem in firmly in place??? Thanks in advance!!

That will work!

I always use that trick when applying stickers. It will slide around until you get it exactly where you want it, then if you push down hard on it, most of the Windex gets displaced and you get a light stick.

When it's fully dry, it will have full adhesion.

Yes, it works like a charm. I used to use it to apply graphics to sailboats. With a 2 by 4 foot section of stripes, it's a neccessity. With a small bit like a Carrerra script, not so much, but it definitely helps. And don't spray much. A fine mist is all you need. The more you spray, the longer it will take it to dry. (and the more chance for a mishap in the process) For stickers, you want to squeegee out the excess, which also removes any trapped air bubbles.

I would avoid using the Windex with ammonia though. Ammonia can dry out, dissolve, and/or embrittle most adhesives. Most vinyl graphics guys use a solution of slightly soapy water with a few drops of iso alcohol to aid drying. Also, for the rear emblem I would measure out left/right/top/bottom reference lines, and use some blue (paint safe) masking tape to make centering easier.
