Fiberglass Body Retailers

Looking for other outlets for fenders, quarter panels etc.

Ive already checked out GT Racing and Rennspd. Trying to get a hold of Series900 however he hasn't responded to my emails and he hasn't posted for awhile.

Any other decent fiberglass retailers and makers out there? Im looking for quarters with a 9" flare, front fenders with 9" and bumpers/spoilers. Not looking for concours type stuff but just half way decent parts as they are for a race car.

If anyone knows of anyone unloading there used stuff too let me know

I've had great experiences with Peter @ RennSpeed.

I have an IROC front bumper I'd let go cheap.
Here's the damage:

And a pic of Jack driving the car pre-damage

I got mine from Peter and Rennspeed: http://www.rennspd.com

Not a "bolt on" fit but I've never seen fiberglass that bolts up without some type of tweeking. Peter's pricing seemed to be the best out there.

Very good service and quality with MA Shaw. Excellent communication.

I as well tried to get ahold of Damon (series900) and like you no luck. Hear that he is very busy. I really wanted to buy some of his parts but never heard back from him so had to move on and work with someone I could get ahold of. His work is excellent and if he ever gets production ramped up would really like to see his stuff on my car!

Check with Getty.

Unless you can touch and feel the fiberglass part before you hand the cash over, there will be some degree of disappointment (more with some vendors than others...don't get me started )....that's why a fiberglass fender is cheaper than a steel replacement fender.

Damon / Series 900 is listed in the yellow pages @ 603 863-0090. He may still be working on the late Pelican member's car.

But doesn't he sell his FG wares through Pelican?

(Damon, if you'd like me to remove your # just let me know)

I have a damaged RS front bumper and a extra "new" rear RS bumper if anyone is interested.

The front does not have the brake cooling holes and is not in real good shape but the price is very good!

From an earlier post this year:

Various thoughts on plastic body parts

there's been some discussion recently about ducktails and such, and with a few emails back and forth, thought I'd post a list of recent experience with parts and makers. I found that when shaping any of the parts, a black and decker mouse sander was great. The tip was perfect for little areas, taking down minute bits of glass, yet the longitudinal is long enough that you won't put waves in straight edges.

GT-Racing
ducktail for the 84: fit very well with only minor shaping needed. it should be mandatory for widebody targas to have ducktails.

"R" early fenders for the 73 track car: fit very well with only minor shaping... Learned that the key is shaping the surfaces that mate to the body

Rennspeed (all for 73 track car)
Rear RS bumper: fit very well

Front RS type S bumper: Fit, but I don't think it's symmetrical, either that or my car isn't, but my car is...

hood: did not fit well, didn't think it would. Just too much to shrink on cure.

Rear SC quarters: this is a toss up. First, they weren't even smooth at the back near the light cluster, sort of a plane, angle, plane, angle instead of a smooth curve. I had to cut the quarter window horizontal flat off to even think of making them fit. They lined up pretty well otherwise, again the secret being to sand down the mating surface. I ended up trimming off most of the metal engine compartment rails (less weight!) and then the quarter rails to get them to fit with the ducktail.

Being that these are for a track car, and I am just button-bolting these on, they are OK. For anything but a track car, unless you are a body and composite wiz, I wouldn't recommend them.

Here's the best thing I can say about them though: after many, many hours, these quarters, ducktail, the rear bumper and "R" light clusters all fit together pretty well with no ungodly gaps.

Series 900
Race dash for the 73: fit very well, a fun project, posted on here some time ago

doors: passenger fit like it was factory metal, driver's needed some finessing. gaps were great. In theory, you could use these on a street car as long as you had some side impact provision.

If Damon can continue to make parts like these, I'd put my $ on him.

Not sure if you can make any other conclusions other than plastic quarters are a really big job. they are not just bolting on 934 flares, that's for sure. My original intent was to bond them on with a structural epoxy. While I am sure it would work, that's probably a job for me in a year or two.
