Tiptronic Computer
We has a disaster with the '93 C2. It sat out last weekend in some heavy rain. Evidently, the back glass had been replaced recently by the P.O. , but not correctly and the driver's side floor flooded. The water got into the Tiptronic computer. The ECU was barely damp, but OK.
The car is in some sort of weird "limp" mode, with gear indicators 3 and 4 flickering and the main trouble light on. Does anybody have a spare one of these things? Mine is a 964.618.110.00 Is there a place that repairs them? David Nolen '93 C2 (very damp!) '80 911SC |

Did you dry it out well (using a hairdryer or some such)? If you did, did you then try to re-set the DME? As I recall this requires disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes (30 minutes to be safe), then taking the car out for a good, fast drive for at least 15 minutes without shutting the car down. This serves to re-map the DME, and may fix your "limp home mode" problems. Otherwise you may have to get your mechanic to clear the error codes with a Bosche Hammer device (OBD 1 diagnostic tool).
Hopefully just some short-term issues while the unit is wet/damp inside, that can ultimately be cleared up after drying it. You might want to do a search on the Rennlist 964 bbs for DME and Reset. Here is one post on it: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=80295 Good luck, Tom
