Painting the Car - Day 12 - Feeling Kind of Blue
Well, it's now Day 12.
Since the last update: - I've blocked, primed, and blocked some more. - The body guy has spent 20 hrs or so on the flares - I blocked and primed a bit more - Did I mention the blocking? - And the priming? It's all paid off though, as tonight the parts went to colour! The guy is spraying my paint and is charging only $100 (CDN - thats about $80 US!) for the labour. Great job with no orange peel or dry spots. Regards, Andrew M Rear Flare in a skim coat of Wurth Maxi-Plast ![]() Sanded down by the body guy: ![]() Bumpers being sanded: ![]() Door with extra coat of high build over a few low spots: ![]() A couple shots of the payoff: The colour varies a bit in the pictures - The true representation is the first picture and the bumpers in the second picture (booth lighting is quite bright) ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow! There is NOTHING like just fresh paint! it is the moment the drudgery turns the corner! Those long sanding hours are suddenly worth it . Looks great.
Are you saying that you have a guy shooting the whole car for $80 bucks american??? I hope you tip him the same amount!

ooooh... I like the color! I may consider a blue color when I get to doing the body/paint on my T. I'd like a metallic blue, but that blue looks great! Can't wait to see her all put back together!

Andrew - That's a great paint job, but you must take a lot of the credit yourself. I've painted 9 cars over the years and as you know now, the prep work is what makes it all come together. You have a lot to be proud of there.......Bob S.

Yup - the amount of time that should be spent on prep work can't be overstated. I'm really liking the results so far - no drips or sags - the paint got laid down really nicely

Too big to fail

$80 USD? Screamin' deal! I'm an amateur, and I wouldn't even prime someone's car for that! Looks like he did a great job, too!

![]() Seriously, very nice color and work. It pays to find someone who'll do this kind of work on the side.
