Gutting power mirrors on 77 911

Is it possible to gut power side mirrors. Take the motors out? They are off a 77 911. Figured I cut the wires so I might as well get rid of the weight if possible. Every little bit helps I guess.

On SCs and Carreras the motor and related pieces are pretty much integral to mounting the glass.

Actually the internals are relatively light compared to the actual base and housing. If you go with manual fiberglass "racing" type mirrors then you have a decent savings.

Maybe a future thing to do. $ is buried in paint stuff at the moment.
