That isn't an OEM VW tool kit for the '63 Beetle ... they came in a gray vinyl tool roll! That is an accessory tool kit sold by many dealers ... sourced by EMPI! You see them advertised in old issues of <b><i>Foreign Car Guide!</b></i>

The VW toolkit is actually a Hazet Tourister from a '56-'57 Porsche.

The correct plug wrench is available from Parts Obsolete in McMinnville OR.

Call 503 835-2300, ask for Renee or Gary, telll them that Eric Linden sent you, and that you want one of the NOS spark plug wrenches for your toolkit.

The electric tirepump is a $24 one from Harbor Freight Tools with all the stickers removed. Perhaps a "PORSCHE" brake caliper decal on the side would be a nice touch.

I also wouldn't mind finding the same SC style tool pouch in the basketweave vinyl to look more '74 vintage.

Good job on completing your tool kit. Do you have a part number for the tire pump? Looked on Harbor Freight and could not find it.
Have you seen black tire pumps in other Porsches? Some images show a tan colored pump in the early cars.

The catalog shows $12.99 for the price, I found mine at the local outlet and thought I paid more.

I've seen the factory inflators and thought this one looked the part, especially for the price!

Of the stuff that was in the toolkit in my '88 I loved the two tools for the spark plugs (sockety thing with the spring and the big allen wrench) and the two tools for the fan belt. They worked so darn well. I even had good luck with the screwdriver and the wrenches. Yes, the pliers were kind of frozen shut. I got them open, put some oil on them, and then worked them back and forth several times. I never really used them, but wanted them to be in usable shape if I needed them.

If you just need the wrench and not concerned with Authenticity, you can get one at Wal Mart like I did for about $7.00.
