Project ITBs: mock-up

I was lucky enough to have some parts cut this weekend. A good friend hooked me up with some CNC mill time and cut these great plates for the base of my throttle body project.

The plates are a press fit to the tubing I will use as my runner. It has a 41mm ID and closely matches the GSXR throttle bodies. Here are a few shots of the mock up. Next step, get out the welder.

Nice work Jamie! NICE!

Jamie,

Will those mount directly to the heads or will you have some sort of manifold between the ITB and heads?

widebody911 11-30-2004 08:01 PM

So you're putting motorcycle carbs on your 911?

sammygon1 11-30-2004 08:03 PM

Looks good, any luck on the linkage yet? Sam

Thom, Here are the two links previous. Souk is putting MC carbs on the 911. These are fuel injection throttle bodies. Yes, they are from a motorcycle. Cheap, easy to find and allow individual throttle bodies for my EFI conversion.

The current design has them bolting directly to the heads. I may modify this to mount on weber manifolds.

Sam, I have a design in mind for linkage. Once I get a set of 3 mocked up I can see if it will work out.

Very cool Jamie. I am very interested in how you linkage turns out.

Very cool. I've been following your project. How will the TB attach to the tube?

jpnovak 12-01-2004 07:27 AM

the TBs will eventually be welded to the tube. I will likely clamp a rubber sleave to do some testing with intake length.

Jamie,
This is great work. I have started winter project along the same lines. Just so I don't reinvent the wheel (incorrectly), would it be possible to post the dimensions of the plates that the CNC machine used for the milling? A CAD file in a .dxf or .dwg format would be even better.
Thanks in advance,
Jim S.
