How do you remove cam drive seal without damaging cam or cam housing?

I have a 72 t 2.4 MFI.

I need to replace the cam drive seal on the very front of the left cam that drives the mfi pump.

What is the best method for removing this seal without damaging the cam or cam tower? It is pressed in deep. If I try and pry it out with a screwdriver I will definitely damage something...

Thanks.

Ian

Jim, I understand this method but there is much less space on the cam drive seal..

i don't think you can get a screw into this seal. It is very very thin. Only a 2mm of metal with 1.0mm rubber on either side....

Anyone have a technique for this particular seal??

I did this recently with the motor in the car and it wasn't that bad. I just used my thinest flat blade jewelers screw driver and worked my way around the outside a little at a time. Lube up the new one and tap it in slowly. Just like a flywheel seal.
