bearing seal/ hub help.... please
hwy does the new seal not look like the old, my original was more like channel iron with a "channel" for the blue rubber seal, also a backer for the backside of the bearing.
this new one is more like angle iron with blue seal in it do i just install the new one or am i fuched or what? this is on an 87' ![]() ![]() |

I'm not at all sure what I'm seeing here, but it looks like you might have two seals that have the same ID and OD dimensions, but one is hosed and the other is new. If it fits, use it. The worst that can happen is it allows grease to escape. Makes a mess, sure.

yes, picures above are one new seal and one old, side by side, old one is three sided, cupped, like a U. The new one is two sided, like an L.

The new seal looks right. I have a new one in the garage and it looks like yours. The blue seal part should have a V-groove where it contacts the spindle surface.

Fit the new seal onto the hub by itself. The ID should hug the OD of the axle where it would normally sit. Then compare the OD of each seal. Same OD? The new seal should be fine.
