Question 1977 930 30 second drag race

My 1977 930 runs at about 3000 rpm on cold starts for around 30 seconds, then drops to 1000 rpm and otherwise runs great. Any thought on why she hauls butt when cold, as this can't be too good for her insides with the cold oil?
Thanks,
Terry

that was the way they were designed. emissions, you know. when i worked at the dealer in the 70s, people complained of that a lot on 930s. we used an air regulator from a SC which wasn't so aggressive. you can shut off a hot early 930, and start it up again after 5 minutes and get the high Rs again for 30 seconds.

Thanks for the explanation. You just saved me an "office visit" to the local Porsche doctor.
