Stinky Heat caused by Dual out Dansk?

A previous post indicated that the shape/location of the the Dual out Dansk pipes caused exhaust to be sucked up by the fan and fed back into the heating system.

Anyone have this problem? I do have a stinky heat problem, does not really smell like burning oil, more like exhaust.

thanks
alf

Anyone else have this problem with their Dual Outs? Leaning out the mix will just mean that lean exhaust fumes are coming in the car...

As close as the exhaust is to the engine fan that pulls in the air to be heated...I imagine that anytime one is not moving (in traffic), depending on wind conditions, that this would be a possible problem. It happens to me now and then..I have a single Dansk out..It is particularly noticeable if your car does not have a cat since the exhaust is high in carbon monoxide. I would make sure there were no large gaps in the engine coimpartment sheetmetal where exhaust gas might be sucked in through.

I have a dual-out Dansk and don't have this problem. The "unique" smell to the heat is no different than it was with the factory exhaust (I now have SSIs...)

i do not have any issues with mine.

you either have a leak in the exhaust systems else the fumes are getting in somewhere they shouldn't.

be careful!

I hate to speculate that a maybe is a Heat Exchanger leak.

I've also read that a short tail pipe would "drag" fumes back into the heating system. This one guy confirmed the short pipe theory with a temporary extension and it was a bingo.
