Hi,
I currently run Dunlop SP 9000 on my car and I need to replace the rear tires (245/45R16). The fronts were recently done and have lots of tread depth. I just found out that the Dunlop 9000 are on backorder everywhere because they are not currently building them, and may not resume any production until Feb! I need tires now to pass inspection this month and I hate to replace the perfectly good fronts. Any thoughts on running a different pair of tires on the rear? Perhaps a set of Kuhmo or Yokohama or Falken?? Wondering if anyone has experience with any of these tires, and in particular with a different brand on front/rear. Thanks!

No problem. Just make sure you don't use bias ply tires on the rears. That's the only thing you need to be congnizent of.
Falkens are good, and there is a Falken that almost matches the tread pattern of the SP9000.

I just put a set of Fuzion 245/45 on the rear with my old RE71's on the front. No problems at all.

Actually, you could probably tune a cars handling better by mixing tires.
Not saying it would be easy to do.
