He will probably just add a /997 to the 964/993/996 forum. But I doubt any Pelicans own a 997, so it would be a lost cause.

Your friend should try the rennlist board. The 997 forum gets a lot more traffic than the 964/993/996 forum here on Pelican. When did your friend order his 997, I'm just curious on the wait time/desirability.

I must chime in here and say that I have just taken delivery of my 997 and would love to see more discussion on this site. I have posted very few times over the past few years but I must say I have been reading this forum since it was much smaller. I cut my DIY Porsche teeth here with a 914 restoration (about 8 years ago) as well as a 70 911E project after that. Currently, I have an almost completed 1961 356B Coupe, a 1999 Boxster whos lease is almost up, and the new 997.
The 70 E definitely had a raw edge to it that I found lacking in the later cars and I agree that the 996 feels less about driver involvement and more about comfort. However, there is just something about the 997 S that feels more visceral and brings back some of what has been gone. Maybe it is just that after 20+ years of lusting after these cars and years of scraping together meager funds for DIY restorations I finally have a new one. I don't know. I still would like to have another early 911 when then 356 is done. Mark |
