72 oil cap leaking
on my 72 911, i'm not getting a good seal with my oil reservoir cap, and oil leaks down the side of the tank. (remember, 72 has the fender flap...) it uses the bayonet style cap. i've tried replacing the gasket, but it looks like the metal tabs just bend and lose the seal.
is this the same as a 73/74 cap? i can never find a replacment part number for the 72. thanks matt 72 911T Targa 2.4 |

'72 oil tank cap with gasket: 911.207.271.00, superceded to 20727100, available by special order through Pelican for $19.72.
'72 oil tank cap gasket: 911.207.901.01, available through Pelican for $2.23. There is also a second gasket on the tank opening: 911.207.387.00, available through Pelican for $8.44. Cheers, Jim |

just wanted to update this...
the part supplied by jim: 911.207.271.00 (cap and gasket) is the only part you need. it comes with a gasket and fits much better than the original cap. around $20. the second gasket jim mentions: 911.207.387.00 is the neck to body gasket. thanks again for your assistance. matt
