901/915 gear set alloys?

Could anyone clarify for me which alloys are used for the gear sets in both a 901 or 915 gear box. I think they are some type of copper-steel alloy (like ASTM B310-58T) or just steel. I could not find a good answer in any books or on the web so I though maybe someone may have an idea here.
