H4 installation?
The article, here on Pelican, on upgrading to H4's does not refer to the need for a relay. Is it necessary or not?
Thanks, Vance

Yes. I know I did on my 76. Also upgraded the wiring from the fuse block, to the relays, to the H4's themselves.

Do a search (search fuction, bottom right of the page), and look up H4 upgrade, or H4 installation. There are a couple of in depth threads on this subject.

It is not required to run a relay. H4's will work fine and bolt in.
The relay is suggested since the stalk switch carries all the current to the light. If you run stock wattage bulbs you can get by with the stock wiring as long as your contacts and wire ends at the fuse block are clean and low resistance. Higher wattage bulbs need relays and larger gauge wire.
