Fitting RSR bumpers to SC - rubber seals?

I am in the process of putting fiberglass RSR bumpers on the front and rear of my SC. They are a used set I picked up made by GT racing. In looking through pics on this site, it seems there are different opinions on whether or not to keep the front rubber 'bumper smile' in place. Same with the smaller rubber seal over the rear bumper. Some remove these seals and others seem to have left them in place.

What is the right way to do this install and why?

Ditch the smile and trim. You can install a small rubber bead where the bumper joins the body. Looks clean. It has a Turbo part #. Pelican sells it.
