Right cam tower oil line replacement

I've searched an read many posts, but wanted to ask the more knowledgable before ordering parts. In replacing my leaking right cam tower oil line, is their anything else I "should" replace other than the oil line itself and the two sealing rings for the banjo fitting? Is it OK to reuse the hollow bolt? I also don't see any 'sealing rings, etc' for other end of the line the line (or for the tensioner line fitting)...am I seeing everything correctly? Thanks in advance...and is there anything else to look out for?

Oil line and aluminum crush washers should do it. If you take the tensioner oil line out of the chain cover, you may also consider replacing the tiny, rubber o-ring in the cover as well as the crush washers on that banjo. But it is not necessary to remove that part of the line to replace the top line.

Regards,
Jim

Keith,
One thing you can do if it hasn't been done is there is an update to the cam tower fittings that reduces the oil flow to the cams to reduce foaming of the oil in the cam towers and as a side effect increases oil pressure by about 10 psi.

One problem we had while building my engine was the torque spec on the cam line adapter. I'm not sure if you're replacing that but the 35nm that is called for seemed to be too much and it leaked. We torqued the other side until the crushwasher is just deforming.
At 35nm it fully crushed the washer and then slide it out from under the adaptor.

Thanks Tim, I had read about the fittings before (and again this time around), but I've decided not to go that route (at this time) since I'm only doing the right hand side. I had also read the caveats about tightening them until the washer crushes (but no more). Thanks for the heads up though...BTW, I'm also going to be tackling my first valve adjustment in the upcoming weeks. Do you think you could maybe lend an 'experienced hand' when the time comes so I can get an idea of the 'feel' of a properly adjusted valve. It's seems pretty straightforward, but nothing beats someone who's bddt...thanks again!

ps: How's the FT coming...I saw your post recently about it being 'professionally adjusted'.

The FT's coming along well. Sent to bill's for a checkup and it's finally running right. It helps to have someone who'se been doing it for 30 years.

I'll be glad to help you out with a valve adjustment. Just send a PM my way.

You might want to install the cushioned line supports......helps prevent vibration-induced problems at the ends....

Could you explain a bit more Wil? I've got an '88, which has (from what I understand), the 'improved' support brackets to reduce vibration, and I'm not sure what you're referring to. As usual...Thanks!

Yes....I didn't notice your car being an '88. These weren't installed until 87 or so production, so the earlier cars didn't have these.

Sorry for the confusion...you're all set!

Keith,

You will also need a new ferrule and compression nut for the engine [block] side of the new oil line!
