Where to ground the oil tank sender
The ground on my oil tank sender is not good anymore for some reason. Any ideas on where I can ground it out instead?
Yes, it works if I run a "collateral cable" up over the fender to the engine ground, so I know that's the problem. I'm looking for a ground under the R rear fender by the oil tank.

use the mounting bolts for the rear fender. They will be right next to the tank on the longitudinal. That is where I have my rear lights and tank grounded.

Randy,
The oil tank sender is grounded through the cable back to the tail-lamp housing, and doesn't depend on the tank itself for grounding. If the gauge is acting like the sender circuit is open ... the problem may be a fractured wire under the insulation close to the Faston connector. If you check the brown wire continuity to ground, the answer may be as simple as chopping the wire off an 1/8" at a time until the bare copper conductor has continuity to ground, then install a new Faston connector.

I don't know what Faston means...
But: The brown wire with the push on terminal has continuity back to the round pin connector in the RR engine compartment. I think the ring terminal that is held by the socket head cap screw that holds the bumper on is not getting to ground. Not sure why - maybe the bolt isn't getting it grounded and it is on top of the painted bumper support. Maybe it was under the support before...
