Question What is best choice for pedal set

What is best choice for pedal set - some autox, but mostly street.

Is lemans worth the money sold here or is rennline a better choice. Anyone else a good pic for replacement.

thanks,

Not sure there is a "best choice" but more like "lots of choices" for your liking. I like my Rennline set I bought used. Here's a pic.

Is stock really that bad? Maybe a set of bronze bushings is all you need.

I don't think you are going to find anyone here that can tell you "this is best". You are going to hear a lot of people's opinions. That being said here I go...

There is nothing wrong with the stock pedals. Rubber supplies grip when dry, wet, oily, dirty, et cetera... There is no time to be made up with a pedal change unless there is something that is so wrong with the pedal layout that it is uncomfortable to drive. (i.e. Lotus!) If you have size 2 feet you might want to change things to fit. (But even in that case raising the floor in front of the pedals would do you more good then shiny pedals.)

In my book the replacement "lightweight" metal pedals come under the heading of "If it don’t go, chrome it". They are pretty and they are cool looking but who cares? They also weigh more then the stock rubber cap. Not sure where the "lightweight" name came from. The gas pedal might be lighter if it completely replaces the original pedal.

They are metal so they supply less grip then rubber. When they do put rubber buttons and inserts into them for grip, the rubber is put in the wrong place. The rubber needs to be on the edge where your foot could slip off. If your foot is in the middle of the pedal then it isn't going to slip anyway.

Differently shaped pedals, so you can heel-toe, aren't going to do you a service anyway. If you want to heel-toe then learn to do it correctly. That way you can heel-toe anything. If you learn to drive with an odd crutch then you will find you are in a distinct disadvantage if you get in any other car with a conventional pedal layout. If you look at a racecar you will notice that they don’t have odd shaped pedals. All the drivers know how to use the pedals and they demand a conventional layout.

Disclaimer: This is all my opinion. (but we all know that my opinion is always right!)

Yama, I have the rennline set as well. Even if you don't go to different pedals. The dead pedal is something that once you have you will wonder how you drove with out it.
Here is a pic

These are the one I hope santa brings for me:

What I like most is the gas pedal replaces the whole plastic unit like the AJUSA one, but it is also adjustable. Not to mention it is made by a fellow Pelican Head.

For the money, the AJUSA sets are good. What I like mostly about them is the gas pedal has its own hinge that bolts to the floor and replaces the entire cheap plastic one. Most aftermarket pedal simply screw into the existing plastic pedal. Not that they break often, but I like how the AJ sets are made. I just checked out the ones Pelican sell and they look pretty nice also. Looks like they replace the complete pedal assembly also.

thanks guys for the info. My rubber on the pedals seems alright for now. I guess most metal pedals are for the looks and not necessarily function. The dead pedal is definitely a must that I will get. Kick panel gets worn and just no good placement while cruising.

I like the AjUSA accelerator for replacing the plastic hinge. 89911 - Is the linkage connection the same or mods required?

The AJ sets give you two areas for the assembly to pop in. Nice if you want to slighty raise the gas pedal for heel-toe use.

If you like the AJUSA, then email me for a good source. Don't want to advertise for someone else on Pelican's site. I really liked the replacement option that Pelican sells, but I went with cost over max coolness.

I like the quality of metal replacement gas pedals, but I'm quite sure there was NO weight loss. The two choices in heigth gives one more area to adjust.

I'd get a new cluster if I could find one that was all aluminum. Just putting on new pedals, or pedal covers, doesn't really do anything except cosmetics.

IF you want some pedals with lots of grip(tiny points) on your shoes that are metal and weight less......
take off the stock covers and look underneath! Those pedals are right under your covers now!
If you really want I guess you could then drill holes in them and strip them or paint them silver..

I kept my stock pedals and added a small billet pedal width extender on the top half of my gas pedal for more "sure" heel and toe. It's an AJUSA piece that was about $30 (last year). I really like the stock rubber on brake and clutch.
