reflector strip at the rear
I was cleaning the car (1986 Carrera Euro Sport) and removed the red reflector Porsche strip off to clean it. When it was off there are two lights one at each end, all wired up and looks as if they are after market jobys. Coss the cut outs have been done with a hack saw or something like that. Is this common ?? and they dont' work as tail lights or brake lights or fog lights! Can any one seed some light on this (sorry)
thanks Steve |

Try some books/manuals or try to find some diagrams in Pelican's reference area.
I've seen some pictures of round holes back there for cooling, but think they were cut for track use.

In 1987 Euro Carreras had the foglights moved from below the bumper to integrated units in the rear reflecter panel. To accomodate the lights, gaps have to be made in that panel. Sounds like someone has retro fitted the later fogs to your car. If you want to swap it for a normal one I'm game

Here's a pic nicked from Ebay with the integrated fogs. Is this what you're talking about?

Ok thanks all for the input. Glasgow911sc you are on the money.
I just went out and tried again and found that the fog light switch can pull out BUT also rotates as well. If I pull it out the front fog lights come on, but if I only turn the switch the fronts and the rears come on. Thanks again Steve. |

How do you remove the reflector? I have a '83 SC and the Bentley books tells me to lift the rear rubber and look for a screw that is hidden. I did this, but there is no screw there. There must have been a change of some kind. How do you remove the reflector when there is no screw under the rubber strip?

Jakermc I have read that some Pcars can be difficult to remove the rear reflector, but on my car there are about 5 screws on the black plastic part and with though's out lift the back strip up and pull out. It can get bloody grimy in there. good luck.

Wow, I'd never seen this integrated fog light thing. Learn something new every day...

I have seen an article on modifying the sheet metal so you can use this reflector strip to increase your number of rear brake lights. Also with this particular reflector you can intregrate a fog light (ala euro) set up for your car.
