Polybronze install question
 
I just installed my Chuck's Polybronze bushings on the front. How much binding is too much? I shifted them foward, loosen, shift..etc and I cant get them to be the same (Left and right) also what are you guys torquing the bolts to? The arms do not drop under their own weight, are they supposed to? The passenger side moves very nicely but the driver side has a little more binding.
I am torquing the rear bolt (crossmember) to 45 lbs and the fronts to 25 lbs. Are these correct? If I loosen the front 2 bolts a tad the arm falls under its own weight.

They are all lubed up, just trying to get the final "free" play set.

Any suggestions?

i am interested in this as i have some to install. i would think that the ideal would be for them to just about fall under their own weight.

They should fall under their own weight. I have put in 3 sests of these now and just use the factory torque spec.... just can't remember what that was. NO binding. On one car I did use Chucks new a-arm alighnmnent parts as well. I am sure Chuck will chime in here with some insight. Are they binding or is there just some resistance?? Has your car ever been "tweaked" in the front end?

It's has never been "tweaked". It may fix it's self once I have the factory torque specs. Once I loosen them they drop (watch your head :) ) I'm just not sure of the torque settings.
There is just some resistance no "real" binding. I'm happy with the passenger side- you barely put some weight on it and it moves freely. The drivers side moves freely with more effort. I just want them to drop under their own weight like yours. :)

Ok. I got the passenger side perfect. Drops under its own weight. Still messing with the Driver side.... Almost there.

What you are seeing is a lack of alignment between the front and rear mounts. eg. they are not on the same axis. The factory design aligns only in the horizontal plane, not in the vertical plane. Any tweaking of the front end (collision, pot holes, off track excursions, etc) can cause misalignment.

Sounds like the passenger side is fine, and the driver side is slightly out of whack.

When everything is perfect the arms will drop under their own weight, slick as snot.

The Low-Friction Control Arm mounts solve the condition.

Yep, the passenger side is very good. The driver side is good. I'm not to concerned about it. They both are better than what I had before. I think after a little breakin the driver side will do the same.
