Oil in cylinder?
Just removed my exhaust to get it Jet-Hot coated, and noticed oil was in one of the cylinders. The engine has not been run in a year. Is it common or indicate a bigger problem? The engine was rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago.
edit- I did run the engine prior to exhaust removal and it ran great! It didn't miss or hesitate. I could not run it to operating temperature because I noticed a severe fuel leak and didn't want to risk a fire. Last edited by dmarv; 12-20-2004 at 10:24 AM.. |

how much oil, could mean nothing, could mean a bad valve guide.

I would say a few ounces of oil, not a lot. I have read that a sitting engine my cause oil from the tank to drain back to the engine, possibly as high as the exhaust. Maybe that's what I have?
edit- I did find this thread pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=192670 Last edited by dmarv; 12-20-2004 at 11:48 AM.. |

Could have leaked some past the guide, but more than likely one of the exhaust valves were slightly open and some of the oil that seeps past the rings managed to sneak itself into the exhaust.
