Hi All,
After completing a couple of years of restoration of my '65 911 I'm curious if it's possible to find out the history of my car. It was sold in 1965 in Stuttgart where it went to the US in 1966. Then it came to Holland in 1998 where I bought it and started to restore it. Is it possible to search the history at the DMV or something? I would like to know where it lived and how many owners it had. The only lead I have is the VIN number and I also found some insurance papers in the glovebox. But there isn't much info on it ![]() Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanx! Semjon

If you post the VIN here, several people will do some research for you.

same thing here, tried to find out more , but that's very difficult
all i managed to find out , from Porsche Pon was the original info from the factory , what colour, options , etc it has... you can't find anything from the DMV , because in those days, nothing was computerized, ( at least not like these days) , Car fax didn't exist yet either... so unless it's a famous car, or if one of the owners recoginizes the numbers... you won't find much info... mine also went from germany to us to holland...

You can get some info from DMV. Write them and for a modest fee they will search the paper based records. You won't get personal info about the sellers or buyers tho.
Stijn, Can you find out some options & color info for me? I have a 1973.5 911 911.310.2669 Thanks!

Oke guys, thanks a lot!
@ Stijn: Well I contacted Porsche and they send me a certificate of authencity. So that's in the pocket. Now I'm just curious what kind of life it lived. I would like to gather as much info as possible. Btw: funny to typ to you in English because you're also from The Netherlands ![]() @ Randy: do you perhaps have some more info about the DMV, such as an (internet)address or something? I know they won't give me any personal information but any tiny bit can help. Thanks! |

I don't know what state you are interested in -- in the US the states do most stuff, and the role of US govt. is limited. So you need to find a state or likely state and then google that and the terms department / motor / vehicles. Look around and find out what address to mail them the fee and what you can get, etc. Once you find one state it was registered in, you can then find any states it came from or went to. My car ahs been registered in 3 states. Good luck.
