Tough Job But I'll Take It
One of the "perks"of my job is to keep the batteries charged on our company presidents "toys" while he is goes back to Japan for a month every winter.
Having just moved to San Diego from Boston I find myself in a warm sunny climate with a brand new Lotus and the chore of having to put the first 1,000 miles on it before it has it's first service. This must be done before president-san gets back. Tough work but I'll take it. My buddy Lenny is behind the wheel( 235 lbs) tight fit. The car is very nice. Yellow is a little over the top for my tastes. Runs out very nice but can't rev over 4500 for the break in according to Lotus. The gear shift is a little vague( surprised) Handling is awsome. Build quality is above average, although a few screws have fallen out here and there. But for getting attention, Wow! Next week I have to drive the SL65 AMG (serious). Pinch me I am dreaming! Funny thing is my Carrera still pulls a lot of interest in office conversation. I sometimes forget how neat a 1988 911 can be. ![]() |

Sounds like a tough job. I wish I had the same problem. Here in Texas I'd probably end up having to drive a long bed dually powerstroke diesel king, crew, extended cab dually 4x4 with lift kit.

It really is unbelievable. I worked for this Japanese fiber optic manufacturer from 1998 to 2001 and got laid off when the ".com" bubble burst. I was offered a position here in San Diego in August and jumped. Compensation was not great but the climate and other perks are working out fine!
Most importantly, I get to drive my 1988 Carrera every day! |
