how to remove bbs wheels?
Guys, I feel like a complete idiot here but I don't know how to go about removing a set of 16" BBS 3 pc wheels off my 911. It has the octagon center cap that sticks out that says BBS then another cap behind it to cover the lug nuts. How do I go about removing that center cap?
I am replacing with some 18". Any help would be appreciated. |
try turning the octagon BBS center cap counterclockwise and it should unscrew off. The plate that covers the lugs should then fall off. I think there's normally a special big wrench for it, so it might be on pretty tight.

That worked! They are tough though without a tool....thanks!

There is a large plastic wrench that should have come with the wheels for the center wheel cap. Obviously you don't have it or you wouldn't be posting this. The caps are not that tight, but you won't be able to remove them by hand. If you have the time, call BBS or a local distributor and pick up the wrench. If not, you could try a large pair of channel lock pliers after protecting the surface of the cap with a rag or something.

Those center cap wrenches are hard to find, I just sold one on e-bay for $25......I think it was from a BMW 325is, but they must be all the same.

I had to make my own. I cut some metal and use tape to protect the cap from the edges of the metal piece. It works great. I wasnt able to find the BBS wrench when I needed one.

What I used that worked great was a smaller "C" clamp. just tightened it up and twisted. Worked like charm.
