With their prices, it's about $250, maybe more for the 12 issues, plus another $50+ for shipping.....are they serious? For a magazine with NO REP YET, that's kinda silly. However, I do hope it's a great read, and worth it, however, I don't think it will ever be worth that kinda dough. Just my 2cents, which is lot less than $25 bucks an issue. That's on par with 101 projects!!!
Regards (this is not meant to be too much of a flame!),

The standard subscription is 49 pounds, which I believe is around $75-80 US dollars. That would be on par with 911 & Porsche world Magazine for US subscribers.

It had air cooled cars on the advertising web page. That's a good sign.

So they're asking me to divert about $80US from my parts budget to their magazine which is staffed by a team which is most likely less then 1% of the size as the Pelican Parts "family". Why??? ![]() The economics of the web is changing the world as we know it...

The editor is Phil Raby, who works(worked?) at 911 and Porsche World.
Seems like an interesting mag.

I'm with John, and whoever wrote their copy should be fired, or at least drag themselves out of the 80s.
"blow your mind" "as much detail as you can handle" Best thing you can do in a launch is underpromise and overdeliver. these guys have already set themselves up to fail. the only way they could deliver against these promises is to stick sound chips of various exhaust systems on the page in a comparison article. that would blow my mind, be very expensive, but very doable.

Isn't this new product from the people that brought you the typo-heaven known as 9 Magazine?

Almost $300? Yikes! You can buy factory manuals for that if you look hard enough...
Perhaps it'll be THE MAGAZINE for Carrera GT owners at that price! I'm trying to think about what it would have to be to justify that price. Thick for one thing, really in depth articles with tons of big photo's for another. No advertising to speak of...

Good to see this has generated some interest - after all, there's no such thing as bad publicity!!
We look forward to delivering our first issue in Spring - I'm sure we will make all the subscribers VERY happy - and surprise a few of you critics too! Feel free to e-mail us with your comments - good or bad - john@9publishing.co.uk Oh, we aren't the people who brought you the typo-laden 9 magazine. jluetjen We at 9publishing are avid users of the Rennlist Forum. We know that enthusiast's forums like Rennlist and this forum offer a great deal to users and enthusiasts. But, most of us also like a real, paper magazine that we can flick through, keep on the coffee table etc. We're not trying to compete with the forums - its just that we think that 911 & PW has gone down in quality, GTPP has great photos, but their content sometimes lacks detail, focus and is a bit 'boy racer' at times. Excellence has a few too many b & w ads for our liking. Pano, being a PCNA publication has to cover every region & every register & this can be a bit dull at times. Christophorus only covers new cars that Porsche sell. We're just making the magazine that we, as 911 nuts, want to read. You don't need to divert any of your 'parts budget' if you don't want to. If you do, thanks for the support! JohnFM

your first post seemed very optimistic and supportive. Thanks! Your last post seems slightly more negative. Why the change of attitude?? Hopefully, we can win you over! We will post some preview feature articles on our website soon, so you can get a feel for the type of things we will be covering. JohnFM

Hi John;
Welcome to Pelican's BBS. Fear not, I still can't help picking up the occasional magazine at Barnes & Noble. It sounds like you have a clear idea of how your magazine will be different then the competition (including this BBS), and a plan as to how you want to get there. Time will tell how the kick-off goes. This is certainly an interesting time in the media world as everyone comes to terms with the impact of the internet and all of it's content. Good Luck and I'll be watching for the first issue.

john,
thanks for posting. i will wait for the first issues before subscribing. will you be "independent" unlike certain other publications? and will you be prepared to print unfavourable comments/experiences regarding your advertisers if it is warranted? (search for my thread of complaint against "so-called" independent). saved you the trouble, here it is: 911 & porsche world - sensor my report i look forward to it.
