1983 Euro SC Coupe : Correct Aerial?

I currently have a fender mounted screw out fixed "whip" style aerial that I'd like to replace with an original. Is the original the automatic telescoping version that rises/ falls when the radio is turned on, which would explain the tucked up wire coil in the inside fender, or the manual sort that you pull up/ push down after it's been unlocked at the fender with the small aerial key? I had one like this on my 77S. Or, are either one correct? Pros/ cons? Thanks!

I believe the power antenna was mounted in the passenger fender while the manual was in the driver side. Which side is yours in?

Sorry about that - it's on the passenger side.

I have a euro 81 SC and mine is NOT power and on the drivers side.

Yours (slw911SC) was probably removed to save weight, or replace a faulty unit at some point.

AFAIK, if it is on the driver side it was always manual. I "could" be wrong though.

Yep, that's what I was gettin' at. What I meant to say was that the original poster (slw911SC) probably originally had a power unit that was removed due to being faulty or in the never ending battle of weight savings.

I edited my original post to clarify. Sometimes it makes sense in your head and just comes out wrong in text.

The power units won't fit in the left side while the manual ones will. The fuel hoses and a/c drier are in the way on the left.

Correct. I think the unit was probably faulty, and replaced with a non power unit at some time. The wiring for the power unit is still intact, and the radio connection is - just disconnected. Although, the screw out "whip" style unit that is currently installed is very practical. Just sourced a power unit for $45.

Thanks everyone for the comments!
