Question I need help with headlamp rubber gasket

What is the trick to installing the rubber gasket for the headlamps? Does it go on the rim cover? Does it go on behind the lip of the housing? Does it go on after the cover is attached?

Also, the gasket has two profiles. Which profile faces the cover and which faces the housing?

1976 911-Targa

Thanks

I'd be intereested in this as well. I spent 30 mins scratching my head trying to work out how the new gaskets were supposed to work, then gave up & reinstalled the old ones (where incidentally the profile was completely different).

If you lay the seal down on a flat surface it should assume it's natural shape. The small edge that is to the inside of the seal sets into the groove between the headlight bucket and the fender. You should be able to install the seal before the light assembly is in place.
