California 911 smog games

Anyone know if Caifornia might be changing their smog requirements on the 1974+ cars?
I have a 1976 that I have just finished a 3 year restoration on, and I have a 2.7 high performance motor built for it with webers/cams/pistons/exhaust/etc./etc. I was hoping when I had the motor built California would lighten up on the -1974 game.
As I feel all I can do presently is buy a stock motor and throw it in there every two years.
Any ideas if Arnold might be considering changing this?

Arnold signed it. 1976 model years and later will now have to pass the biennial checks forever, or until someone decides to change it. This change is in effect 4/1/05.

Thanks John

I guess a spare stock running motor will be the way. Blah!

See if there are any funds you can get to reduce pollution -- if so, use it towards a 3.6L swap....

If they'll pay $650 to crush an SC (See other thread) then they might pay something to mod to a cleaner engine.

IF not, then this is a good time to get a friendly state rep. to introduce a bill.
