P221, P222 Con.Rod, chain support tools orientations when meeting halves?
1. Is there a proper orientaion for the rods for these tools, before meeting case halves? Diagram 3-19 page 131, it appears the #1 cylinder rod is up dog-leg to the right. The three rod looks like it's relative right in the middle of the flywheel seal.
2. If the above is the proper orientation(s) for the rods, do you rotate the crank in a particular method to achieve this, before meeting the halves? 3. #1 and #2 rod supports appear to be facing a different direction than #3? 4. When the halves do meet, is there plenty of clearance in pulling them out? Thanks |
I never found the starting orientation of the crankshaft an issue, but you will have to bring the three rods out through their respective holes as you bring the halves together. You can make three cardboard supports that will hold them upright. Don't forget the camshaft chain, it needs to be brought out as well. Your best bet here is a second person. My wife knows how to do this like an expert, but she has become very expensive....
Good luck. |
OK. Thanks
