Unhappy A Toyota Motor in a P-Car

Reading the latest issue of Pano, Porsche is considering using a Hybrid motor mfr by Toyota in its SUV.

Wonder if this is a sign of things to come. Does any one know of a plan to make the 911 into a Hybrid???

Kind of makes one what to go out and hug an air cooled Porsche.

Planning for future market share, I guess.

Porsche NA is "very serious" about it. Not one to miss a trend Porsche is just responding to market forces - just like they did with the Cayenne.

Toyota's Celica GT drivetrain is powering the new Lotus Elise.....

At least it is Toyota, the largest manufacturer in the world. Air cooled, water cooled it doesnt matter. In the future all cars will be fuel cells, hybrids, and who knows what else.

Why not just have Toyota build the whole car, license them to put porsche badges on it, and just charge royalty fees.

Seems like a much quicker and easier way to cash in on the Porsche name brand.

Ya know that would be a very worthy successor to the 912 in my opinion if they made that in conjunction with the regular 911. Just food for thought.

Cool Interesting Hybrid.....

The hybrid that I would like to see would be a Mazda rotary mated with an electric assist motor. That way there would be lots of bottom end torque (missing from the rotary engine) and good top end power. The entire drivetrain would be very smooth running! The combination could be built primarily for performance but would likely help the fuel mileage of the rotary as well.
