What is this...?
I have the engine lowers and I am ready to pull it out, but I have found a wire or cable, or something that goes along the passenger side of the transmission onto the engine. It seems to enter the car through the access panel where the shift coupler is located. What is this and how and where do disconnect it?
Thanks!

Also, it is taped to the starter wires just before the front of the engine and the wires and this "thing" all enter the engine under the CIS system together....HELP!!!

Speedometer cable. Disconnect it under the access panel between the rear seats. If you only removing the engine without removing the transmission, you can leave it in place. Don't forget to disconnect the shift coupler before removing the engine if you leave the transmission in place.

actually it was not the speedo cable, I think it is the backup light wires....I cut the rubber cover open and there was a yellow and green wire....I did leave the trans in, and now the sucker is out!!!!
Now the work begins

Congrats! In the first and last picture you posted, you have the speedo cable in there, so I thought that's what you were talking about. The backup light wires go into the same wire loom that the starter wires to into, which go into the fuse block in the engine compartment, so that would make sense that's what you found. I dropped the tranny with the engine so I diddn't have to mess with those wires. What is the reason for dropping the engine?
