how to unglue rear view mirror

I improperly positioned the mount for the mirror on the w/s. Does anybody know how to unglue it so that it may be repositioned? Help Thanks

A rasor blade, VERY carefully work it around all the sides. TAKE YOUR TIME don't rush it or you will break a chunk out of your windshield

I've used a heat gun on both the outside and inside patch area to soften the glue. I did it gently to avoid cracking the shield.

You guys have no idea.

Put on a crash helmet and give it a light tap with your head. Guaranteed to pop off - no fuss - no mess.

Worked for me about 3 times so far.......

I just did this on the track car as the rear view mirror on the windshield is useless with the roll bar in place.

Some have more patience than I, but I could get nowhere using a single edge razor blade. I ended up using a razor saw, and attacking the "button" on the windshield from various sides alternatively.

I think it took me about 15 minutes before the glued spot was so small that the button just popped off. Then I cleaned off the adhesive residue with a single edge razor blade. Can't tell the button was ever there.

Here is a link to the razor saws I am talking about:

Good luck,
Tom
