can 73-82 targa top fit a 71?
Hi all, I have a '71 911T targa and recently came across one that fits '73-82. Can anyone tell me if it can be modified to fit mine? Thanks.

If you find that there is a difference... I have one off from a '72 but really need one for a '73

There is misinformation from the seller claiming a '73 - '82 interchangeability!!! The '71 thru '73 Targa tops will interchange , directly ... no issues! Big changes for the '74 models and later ... center pin added, and rear Silentblocs were enlarged, rear loccating pins got plastic covers for noise [NVH] abatement. A '74 - '84 top can be fitted to an earlier car ... with some retrofit alterations, reversible but annoying ... 1. Early center rear pivot can replace the '74 version with locating pin, directly. 2. Cut off the plastic covers over the two rear locating pins ... and the pins will fit into early Silentbloc receptacles.
