Question fuel pump

hi all, Can someone tell me why my fuel pump is in the rear next to the swaybar mount?(75 targa)

The car had an 83 engine installed, before I purchased it,I'm assuming that has to be part/all of the reason?

Would it make sense to move it to the front location?

thanks.......

if not, just leave it alone.

Your fuel pump is there because that's where the factory put it. They didn't move them forward until a few years later.

My '76 has a 3.2 in it and I mounted the Motronic fuel pump in the same place (left rear like yours) that the CIS pump resided. No problems. Kinda like Randy said, "don't fix it if it ain't broke".

The fuel pump in my 76 is in the front, attached to the suspension crossmember.
