				Auto meter Question

I just got a new Auto Meter Pro Comp oil pressure gauge and Oil Temp gauge. Will these units work with my existing sending units that I have on the motor now?

They both came with new sending units but I am sure the thread pitch is different then what is there now. Thanks

Those seem like prudent questions to ask before a purchase ... the chaces of winning a Mega-Millions lottery are probably greater than getting those USA-made gauges to work with the OEM VDO senders!!! Your answer is already in the package ... and undoubtedly USA-spec threads are what the new senders have! Probably 1/8" NPT ...

By the way, the threads are not 1/8 NPT, they are 3/8 and 1/2 NPT. Thanks for the answer "I guess"

I'll dress in drag and send the board a photo if the autometer gauges work with the stock VDO senders. You'll probably want to get those adapters.

And, yes, depending upon the resistance of the sending unit and gauge any gauge can work with any sending unit regardless of original make or application, but the odds of the autometer and the VDO parts using the same resistance range is very slim. When I used to work at a retail parts store we had the old paper catalogs for senders and stuff, and after having gone through them looking for hard to find stuff or trying to find something that would work for an NLA part I can tell you that there are many, many different specs for those parts, even within the same Make of car.

The early VDO temperature sensor for numeric calibrated gauges is around 1150 Ohms at 70°F and around 35 Ohms at 300°F. It is a non-linear [power series is closest fit] negative temperature coefficient resistor.

The early VDO oil pressure sender is around 15 - 20 Ohms at 0 psi.
