Will Carrera Sunvisor fit SC?

I'm trying to locate replacement sunvisors. If I'm fortunate enough to locate good used ones, do Carrera visors have the same screw locations and attachment as the stock SC visors?

In looking at the new visors for sale, they appear to have a crease in them rather than being perfectly flat. Have all new visors gone to this design?

I think the ones with the crease are for targas and cabs.

I put visors out of a 993 in my SC, same screw pattern and a much better visor.

Thanks. I have a Targa. If I can't locate good used ones, I'll probably bite the bullet and buy new ones. I tried inserting some glue into the puffy ones I have. Initially looked good. The puffiness is still gone but now they have wrinkles. It's not a huge number but more than I'm willing to live with.

I didn't realize 993 visors were also an option. I'll keep them in mind also.

Targas and cabs have completely different sunvisors than coupes. My '88 had "bent" sunvisors, not sure about early targas.

Is there anything for less than about $300? It's crazy that a simple thing like this costs so much....

The prices for these things is not commensurate with the material used or the amount of technology in them. The aftermarkets I've seen are not much less in price and there is some question as to their fit without changing the brackets. I'm also hesitant to buy used ones since mine puffed up after 15 or so years. So even if I found some from a late model Carrera, they may only have a year or two before they deform as well. From time to time, the Porsche dealership has a 50% off sale on parts. This may be the best opportunity for me to pick up some new ones at a price I'm willing to pay. It's hard to justify this much money for a part that's not required for the car to operate.

I think if you find a good set of these later model style visors they shoud last a long time. Their not made the same way as the old ones.
The guy I bought these from said they were from a 993. I'm not sure if this style started a few years earlier or not. I paid 150. delivered and their like new.

I had to replace the visors on my '77 Targa a few years ago for the same reason that they puffed up. If I remember correctly, the original style visor is NLA, and I had to purchase the Carrera style - which look better anyway. As was stated, the open car visors are different than the coupes - the hinges are fixed at both sides thus the visors do not pivot out towards the door. The new one I received do have a slight bend in the middle.

I agree that the prices are obscenely high for these things. A few years back PCNA was mailed out coupons for $100 off a parts purchase of $200 or more - that's when I bought them.

I wonder how much it would cost to get a leathersmith to recover some old ones -- might be less than a new set and it would be nice in black leather.

You know there was somebody who use to advertize this service, leather covering you old visors. They had ad's in one of the magazines a couple of years ago. I can't remember if it was Pano or Excellence.

I can't tell the difference from the carrera used set I bought for about the same price. I put a wanted post on Pelican and got a couple of replies.

My guess is they would. If these from a 15 year newer car fit my 80SC I would think you could go back that many years too. But that's a guess.

I've heard of people recovering them. You could probably buy your own material and practice several times and still come in at probably 1/4 of the price of replacements.

I was afraid to guess what a '73 is all about, so

For drivers visor with mirror is 911.730.031.07 for both '73 & '77.

I have Carrera visors installed.

confirm my #'s

You could actually think of visors kinda like a woman.
If their nice and firm that's good. If there filled with that foam stuff that isn't quite as good, unless your into that. And if their all wrinkled up, Well you get the idea.

It's your choice.

My mind tends to drift sometimes

Those look very close to mine only mine don't have the screw to tighten them. Mine have some kind of an internal cam that locks them in the up position.

this "cam" must be on mine also. As soon as you start lifting from the down position they snap up.
