Gas Heater In A SC?

Has anyone here ever installed a VW or a WEBASTO gas heater into a SC? I've been looking for alternative heating solutions other then the traditional heat exchangers.

Simon,
I'm not sure exactly what a WEBASTO gas heater is? Is that the heater Porsche had as an option in the late '60s?

I had a fraternity bro that owned a '67 911S with a gas heater. It fit where the A/C evaporator is located on your '78. I intalled a VW gas heater in an '66 MG I owned, my first car. So have some limited knowledge. They don't use too much fuel, and work very well.

i put some SSIs on a SC recently along with fresh hoses and a new engine mounted heater blower, and you actually have to turn down the heat after a few minutes.

Yes the WEBASTO is the gas heater used in older cars.

I just saw this one that poped up on ebay that I think Im going to buy (dont even think of sniping this auction anyone).

I was just wondering how hard it would be to do such a instalation and to find replacement parts.

I was thinking of SSI's or headers with exchangers but I cant get over the thought of a few drops of oil getting in there (my old headers) and smoking things up.

Webasto is still making the things. You can find them for over the road trucks.
