Talking Project Complete (almost) Pics

Here she is Guys....

Nine months and countless hours Yealds a project I'm pretty proud of. Boy is she fun to drive.

Original 1974 911 S

2.7 CIS engine with an SC Grind cam upgrade and all new gaskets, seal, clutch and related parts.
All new paint and Interior upholstery, carpets and headliner. Original 408 paint code and cork interior.
All new rubber, seals, struts, soundproofing.
She had 8" fuchs with 205/60R15, I kept the same but went to Yokohama ES100 I'm afraid they're too big cause I get a bit of rubbing. I raised the front 1/2" and it helps but somehow it seems it can't be that simple.

There are a few anomalies I can't figure out such as (1.) why my parking brake light keeps blinking even when the brake is released. (2.) Why , when I turn the left blinker on with the key in Position 1 the left running lights come on but when I switch to the right they don't? (3.) Why I seem to smell a slight oil smoke smell when I turn on the heat or defroster and there is no evidence of oil leaks anywhere? I am sure I'll discover more but thats it for now.

Nice ride Jim. Can't help you wiht Q1. As for Q2; if you mean when the left turnsignal is on, you turn key to the off position, and the left running lights stay on - this is actually a feature to keep from getting side-swiped when parking on narrow German streets. (Of course it only works for a few hours until your battery dies - ask me how I know). Q3 - They all smell that way Check for weeping return tubes.

Nice looking 911 Jim !!
For the parking brake, you may need to adjust the connection.
On the right side of the handbrake base is a small screw. Loosen it. Put the brake in the down position and move the switch up and down until you get the light to go out. Pull up one click and adjust for the light to go on.

Thanks Jamie that takes care of #2 and #3. My wife thinks I need to install a carbon monoxide detector. It can't be that bad can it? Got the dead battery thing. I'll watch for that one>

Narrow body + mellow color + chrome window trim = cleanest looking 911's around. Car looks great, and although I'm not an impact bumper fan, the smaller 74 bumper pads (and ROW) are definately the way to go.

You replaced the master cylinder, I'll bet, and didn't set or reset the little stem under the rubber boot on the left hand side underneath.
Push on the rubber until you feel the tip and puch it in until it stays.

This is your system warning switch and is monitored by your ebrake light.

"Zeke",

Ya Know, I didn't replace the M/C but I did replace the wires that were disconnectred from it. When I pulled the skid plate I noticed that the two wires were not connected. Thought it was kinda funny so I slipped them back on. I'll try the reset you mention. THANKS

Jim,

When a car has had bad oil leaks, the smell and possibly some of the oil gets into the heating system. Can take a long time to get the smell out but it eventually cleans up.

Good to see another nice car in our area!

Nice Jim! The oil smell in my heater finally disappeared after 3 months, only to have a leaking rocker seal set me back again!

Hey Joe, Nice to hear from a fellow Zoner. The car did have some bad oil leaks. I thought I flushed out the heat exchangers pretty well but I guess it will take time as you say. At least there is hope.

Great color!

So what is 408? It looks darker than Sepia (415), but lighter than Mocha (451).

Sweet! How about some interior and engine pics too.

Oh, and you won't notice that smell when you're heading out Iron Springs toward Yarnell Hill!
