Best Front mounted Oil Cooler?
This has probably been addressed before but I can't find anything in a search. I am wondering what is the best front mounted oil cooler solution for an early car (specifically a 1972 911) with a GT Racing front spoiler #003. The opening is 19.5" X 4.5". Engine is a 911S spec engine used as a PCA and vintage club racer. I have tried a Setrab plate fin type sold by Elephant racing but is is just too long to fit. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks, JB |

If you don't plan on any sheet metal mods, I can suggest an Earls Temp-A-Cure cooler I use. It's fine for street. Temps. never rise above 210ºF (2.7) in my RS front bumper (equiv. to GT Racing #003?). The number is 25012. The face width between tanks is 4", length (ht) is 15 5/16", overall width is 7", 50 row cooler and -12 AN fittings on one end. An Earls cooler mount, about 4.5' of AN hose, 2 straight, 1 45º and 1 90º -12 fitting along with a couple of -12 to 30mm (?) adapters completes the job.
There are others I'm sure. For the track, cooling would do better with improved ducting in back of the cooler, but that requires some sheet metal work. Sherwood |
