911 Advice needed
Gentlemen,
I am considering an 89 C4 911 with 65K mi. Is there anything special I need to look at or consider during PPI? Is this car any more reliable or unreliable than a 2 wd Carerra? Yes, as you can, tell by the questions, I am a relative newbie at this game. Thank you in advance for your recommendations. Paul

Do a search on C4 and C2 vs. 88 and earlier Carreras. You'll find that there are very precise and problematic issues--flywheel, cylinder seals, distributor ventilation--that need to be addressed by the PPI. On top of the the highly complicated and heavy 4 wheel drive.

I don't believe the 1989 had the troublesome dual mass flywheel, that was introduced in 1990 and changed to another type of dual mass flywheel some time in 1991 or 1992. Adrian Streather has written an extensive book about the 964 series, Porsche 911 Enthusiast's Companion Carrera 2, Carrera 4 and Turbo 1989 – 1994 . There is also a web site at http://www.porsche964.co.uk/ with lots of info about the 964 series cars.
Good luck! Chuck
