Will a 1969 911S bosch distributor bolt right into a 1971 911T.
I have a marelli distributor and a friend of mine has a '69 911S bosch dist. that he is willing to sell me if it fits. Will the S curved dist. be ok to run with my stock T motor? My T is euipped with a MSD ignition, PMO carbs. Thank You for your replies |

The S curve only advances to 18 degrees I believe, not the 35 as usual. I know this is true for '68. You could always get the dist recurved here is who did mine. http://www.ignitioneering.com/
You could probably run fine with the S curve just set the timing at 6000 RPM and then adjust the idle down if you can with out stalling. I would ask around for some more info and tips. Also do a search and listen to anything Warren (Early S Man) has to say.

The early S distributor has mech. weights that advance about 20 degrees. With an initial static timing of 10º BTDC, that gives you 30 deg. total vs 35º overall. Bumping the static up to 15º (to equal the 35º) might be a bit too much low end advance. The S distributor advances fairly quickly.
The stock timing is 5º ATDC, primarily for smog. It will work. I also answered your inquiry on the Early S Registry. Sherwood |

Once all is adjusted/timing to what you have suggested: will my T run fine and smooth? will I have pinging problems? are there any problems I will encounter? thanks |

Will I need to change the rotor to a 6500 rpm rev limit rotor?

Is there anyone out there that still has a brand new Bosch distributor?
The bottom line will a 1969 911S bosch dist. fit on a 1971 911T motor with no problems? Will all i need to do is adjust timing to make it run smooth? |

Hi John
It will fit with no problem. Now what else exactly is involve in making run smoothly, is it just simply adjusting timing? Thank You for your reply |

fwiw,
my 2.7RS/ 2.7 Euro/ 2.7 Carrera dizzy has 10deg initial & 35deg total. It's a kinda steep curve, but I had it in the orig CIS with 5deg initial without pinging under 3k. They are cheap. Pelican doesn't list them, so you have to call them. Should be about $300 brand new.
